ONE BASED AIRCRAFT, THREE NEW ROUTES AND INCREASED FREQUENCIES on two popular routes, BRINGING WIZZ AIR’S PRISHTINA NETWORK TO NINE ROUTES across six countries
Wizz Air and Limak Kosovo International Airport J.S.C. are pleased to announce today the opening of a new Wizz Air base at Prishtina International Airport, marking an important new chapter in the airline’s continued growth in Prishtina and its long-standing partnership with the airport and the city.
One state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo aircraft will be based in Prishtina from November 2026. Featuring the latest generation technology, the aircraft offers improved fuel efficiency, reduced noise emissions and enhanced operational performance*, enabling Wizz Air to further expand its local operations, strengthen connectivity and offer passengers an even wider choice of affordable travel opportunities.
Wizz Air currently connects Prishtina with London Luton, Bratislava, Milan Malpensa, Rome Fiumicino, Memmingen and Dortmund. As part of this major expansion, Wizz Air will launch three new routes from Prishtina to Brussels Charleroi, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden and Basel-Mulhouse. The airline will also increase frequencies on one of its most popular existing connection. Services to Dortmund will operate five times per week, up from three.
With these additions, Wizz Air will operate a total of nine routes across six countries from Prishtina, providing passengers with more direct connections and greater flexibility on both new and established services.
The base opening will add 500,000 seats to Wizz Air’s Pristina operations and create 40 new direct employment opportunities for locally based pilots and cabin crew. The investment is also expected to support approximately 350 indirect jobs across airport services, tourism, hospitality and other businesses benefiting from increased air connectivity.
The opening of the new base represents the most significant milestone to date in a long-term growth journey that began in April 2017, when Wizz Air launched its first route from Prishtina to Budapest. Since then, the airline has progressively expanded its operations, invested additional capacity and developed a strong relationship with passengers, the airport and local partners, laying the foundations for today’s major investment and further growth in the years ahead.
Over this period, Wizz Air has placed more than 3.5 million seats on sale to and from Prishtina. In 2026 alone, the airline is offering approximately 615,000 seats, including more than 367,000 seats during the summer season. With the new expansion, Wizz Air will become the largest scheduled airline at Prishtina International Airport.
The expansion also builds on Wizz Air’s strong operational performance in Prishtina. Between January and June 2026, the airline operated approximately 1,400 flights, carried more than 304,000 passengers and achieved a 99.49% flight completion rate, demonstrating the reliability of its operations and the strength of its long-term presence at the airport.
András Szabó, Network Officer East at Wizz Air, said: “The opening of our new base in Pristina represents the next major step in a commitment that began with our first flight here in 2017. By basing an aircraft in Prishtina, launching three new routes and increasing frequencies, we step change our presence and create a strong platform for further growth. This investment demonstrates our confidence in Prishtina and its potential, while bringing more destinations, more affordable fares and new local career opportunities. We are proud of everything we have achieved here since 2017 and look forward to continuing this journey together with our passengers, airport partners, and locally based colleagues. Let’s WIZZ, Prishtina!”.
Gökhan Açıkgöz, CEO at Prishtina International Airport Adem Jashari: "Today’s milestone is the result of cooperation, trust, and a shared commitment to growth. The establishment of an airline base represents a long-term commitment. It brings increased capacity, enhanced connectivity, new opportunities for our passengers, and the potential to contribute meaningfully to tourism, trade, investment, and economic development. Most importantly, it reflects a shared belief in the future I would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, and in particular to the Honourable Prime Minister, for its continued support of the development of the aviation sector and for its commitment to strengthening Kosovo’s international connectivity. I would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the leadership and the entire team of Wizz Air, for having trust in our market and we want to ensure them that we will give all the contribution to make this investment a regional success story."
